"I read an article from mindanews.com that your organization is
helping schools in Mindanao by providing them with encyclopedias and
reference books. I am so happy to learn about your efforts in
support of school children who need educational resources so they can be
prepared for the future. I was formerly city councilor from the
City of Digos but am now living in Canada. As former Chairman of
the Committee on Education, I am aware of the meager resources available
for education from the national and local governments. During my
term, I discovered that many schools in my city lack books and
resources." - - Nonito Dondon Llanos III,
Edmonton, Canada.
"The teaching staff and pupils of Pangasugan Elementary School would
like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Move On
Philippines for providing us with a computer and printer for our school.
We will never forget your generosity. God Bless you all and more
power! - -
Ms. Teresa Rabanos, Teacher-in-Charge, Pangasugan
Elementary School, Baybay, Leyte.
"Everyone had a grand time inspecting the books donated to Apolandia
Elementary School by Move On Philippines. Aside from the books,
the plastic courier bags used to pack the encyclopedias were also
appreciated by the teachers. They expressed plans of converting
these packaging materials into school bags for children who do not own
any. That's a remarkable attitude and a showcase of creativity and
resourcefulness." - - EJ Matela, Program
Director, Minland Foundation, Kidapawan City, Cotabato.
"We, the teaching staff of Apolandia Elementary School, are
thankful to Move On Philippines for their generous hearts and for
providing our needs for books. Thank you very much and more power
to all of you." - - Valeriano Y. Delos
Reyes, School In-Charge, Apolandia Elementary School, Barangay Kapatagay,
Digos, Davao
del Sur.
"Our school is located far north of Davao City, seated on a flat land
on top of a mountain. Agriculture is the main source of living of
its inhabitants. Students have to walk several kilometers to reach
the school. In spite of the eagerness and enthusiasm of students
to learn, they cannot fully attain such goal due to lack of facilities.
Our small library lacked books in math, science and English, which
students need for references. Encyclopedia is still a strange item
to them. Even our dictionary is incomplete due to wear and tear."
- - Clara G. Ocampo, Principal, Camanlangan
National High School, New Bataan, Compostela Valley Province.
"We respectfully request help for Paaralang Elementarya ng
Camanlangan. We badly need a computer and encyclopedia.
These tools will help our students achieve better learning outcomes. - -
Diomedes Calicdan,
Head Teacher, Camanlangan Elementary School, New Bataan, Compostela
Valley Pronvince.
"Since computer literacy is now being
introduced in the curriculum, the school does not have enough computers
to serve the students. Some graders even thought that computer monitors
are TV sets. Their library is almost bare of books. Students have to
look for books/encyclopedia elsewhere for their research projects.
According to the principal, they needed books in English, math and
science for references. The government can’t fully support the schools
for even the teachers' salaries are often delayed." - -
Mrs. Nene Remoquillo, a local volunteer writing on
behalf of Camanlangan Schools, Compostela Valley Province.
"Hilaan Elementary School is located in a mountainous area
approximately 13 kilometers from the municipality of Bontoc, Southern
Leyte. Our teachers have very limited or no access at all to
computers. They travel to the municipality of Sogod (6-7
kilometers away from Bontoc) to have their reports, exams and other
instructional and visual materials encoded/processed or computerized.
Our students have not seen a computer in their life." - -
Maria Villa O. Sumodlayon, Teacher, Hilaan
Elementary School, Barangay Hilaan, Bontoc, Southern Leyte.
"Our school library has books but they are very old. We
do not have dictionaries and encyclopedias. Although computer cafes are
available, it is expensive for us to have our reports, exams, programs
and other classroom related typewritten from time to time. There
is also a need for us to be updated with any informative educational
tools such as software programs that will enrich teachers and students'
knowledge. Availability of computer would enhance report making on
time, school documentation, networking and other related school
activities not to mention that it will also help improve the teaching
quality in classrooms." - - Ernesto B. Omolon,
Principal, Guadalupe Elementary School, Barangay Guadalupe, Baybay,
Leyte.
"The package of dictionaries and books for
each of the 16 elementary schools in Cotabato's post-conflict areas will
be highly appreciated - I guarantee. Any gift is treated the same
because the real gift for them is the hope that is stirred up by knowing
that people, who do not know them, trust them and are willing to help
them. Your noble initiatives readily inspire people who are on the
brink of giving up. Your efforts also contribute to social
cohesion building (eventually nation building) because you influence the
human psyche not only of the beneficiaries but also of the people around
them and the people who hear about your noble cause - that helping
others should be the norm even if you do not know them. And since the
kind of help being given is according to the donor's available resources
and being given willingly, Move On Philippines is imparting a very
powerful message here - - that helping is not about how many or how
much, but is about the willingness of a person to help others - a value
that you have that should encourage other people especially in these
times of compulsive materialism." - -
EJ Matela, Program Director, Minland Foundation,
Kidapawan City, Cotabato.
