Guadalupe Elementary School Books Turnover.
Turnover Report for
Guadalupe Elementary School, Baybay, Leyte
Books for Classrooms and Library November 30, 2005
By: Felix L. Ocon, Program Administrator

Guadalupe Elementary School in Baybay, Leyte received a refurbished
computer from Move On Philippines on July 22, 2005. Since then, the
principal of Guadalupe has also requested dictionaries and reference
books from Move On Philippines. Therefore, Trustees approved to send
Guadalupe Elementary School several dictionaries and pre-owned library
books. The box containing several packages of resources (2 dictionaries
and 47 library books) for Guadalupe arrived the Philippines on November
16, 2005. However, due to several scheduling conflicts (postponement of
PTCA meeting due to upcoming barangay fiesta and other unforeseen
circumstances), the resources were not delivered to the school until
November 30, 2005.
The principal was out during turnover because he is
also in-charge of eleven other schools in the area. A simple turnover
of books was conducted after the flag ceremony. In the absence of the
principal, the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the school announced my
arrival to the students. After introducing me, I read the transmittal
letter from Move On Philippines. Then books were distributed for
students to browse. Children were ecstatic to see colorful pages and
nicely bound books. It was quite moving to witness what simple joy a
book can bring to a child’s face.
After the turnover, pictures were taken including
the refurbished computer donated by Move On Philippines. The children
were cooperative, even voluntarily posing as I took their pictures.
Afterwards, books were collected from the students so that teachers
could place them in the school library. Then the OIC shared an
inspiring message with the students, encouraging students to take the
time to read the newly received books. On behalf of the principal,
teachers and students of Guadalupe Elementary, the OIC expressed her
appreciation to trustees and donors of Move On Philippines for the books
the school received.
Following closing
remarks, the acknowledgement letter was signed indicating receipt of the
books. Then additional photographs of teachers and students were taken
for documentation purposes.
