Computer Project 2005.

Hi Guys!
Good news to all!
Finally, we delivered a computer to the Pangasugan Elementary School at
12:00 Noon (March 14, 2005). The school is located in Barangay
Pangasugan in Baybay, Leyte with an estimated population of 1,500.
The school is on a hilltop with an area of 8,908 square meters.
Currently, there are 190 students enrolled and six "educationally
qualified" teachers. The main sources of income for the community
are coconut, abaca, rootcrops and small parcels of ricefields.
I spent the whole afternoon installing
and rechecking the unit, installing useful software/programs,
and running printout samples. I also spent some time visiting with the teachers
and showing them the educational programs that were installed. So far the system is okay except for the printer.
There is probably a problem
with the printer which I will take care of on Monday as I was scheduled to get my
E-card at GSIS in Tacloban.
The response from the teachers and school children was refreshing and
worth remembering. Unfortunately I was not able to take photos
especially during the transport where "big boys" (hehehe...gagmay gud
doy nga mga bata) carried and lifted the monitor, CPU and printer up the
hill where the school is located. They were very happy and didn't seem to
mind the weight of the equipment. Wala na noon koy dala kay sila naman lang
but it's quite good anyway because I was out of breath as I climbed the 200m
stairs. Whew! But the experience was very rewarding knowing we can be of help to
others, right?....All the sakit ng katawan, salty sweats and the
growling stomach kay walay kaon all were vanished by the unending
expressions of gratitude from teachers and students.
Unfortunately, the head teacher (Ms. Theresa Rabanos) was out attending a seminar but I was
warmly welcomed by the OIC together with beautiful and
energetic teachers (kay beautiful bitaw) and many pupils kay
lunch break man. Well, I was not able to borrow a digicam for documentation
purposes. However, I will return to the school this week to take pictures,
pick up letter of
appreciation from the head teacher and take the printer to Tacloban for
replacement.
Indeed they were all very thankful to Move On Philippines. They asked me why I
was the
only one who came to deliver the computer. I told them na ang ila ipamasahe
pag-oli sa Pinas aron pag-deliver sa unit i-donate nalang nila for
another computer to other schools (hehehehe). All of them
expressed their expectation that if other schools find out that they
have received a donated PC, then those schools will also ask for MoveOnPhil's help
to have their own too....hahahaha...na ma-stiff neck ta ani og balibad....joke
lang. Anyway, I did not give them any assurance. I told them that,
so far,
this is our first computer project.
Later
I will be reporting by attaching the documentation, acknowledgement letter
from the principal and expense
report on the purchase of the unit. God Bless and let's keep
moving forward.
